Arcane Component Works tips its hat to old tradition with this beautiful stripping guide. These wide fluted stones are wire-bezelled in ACW’s resurrection of an old-school look. Give these guides a try on your next custom flyrod.
Please note: we are in the slow but sure process of making prototypes of all the guides using the freshly cut agates that we’ve produced over the past year. In this instance, some sample photos were taken of guides made with old-stock stones, so the style is accurate, but for stone options you’ll need to consider the photos of loose rings. If you’re really frustrated that we don’t have a finished, sample guide photographed in a particular stone, you can order one and request that we take photos of your guide for the website. Time permitting, we will do our best to accommodate this request and over the next year we’ll get more and more sample pics posted to these pages.
This image shows a ROY Agate Natural…it leans a bit orange, as do many of the ROY 11mm rings in the current batch.
- 9mm – Natural Agate, Okapi Agate, Black Onyx, Moss Agate, ROY Agate, Blue Agate.
- 10mm – Natural Agate, Okapi Agate, Black Onyx, Moss Agate, ROY Agate, Blue Agate; only in 10mm, we do still have some old-stock, orange banded, wide, fluted rings, but quantities are limited so please email if you’d like to order one.

Jewelry Grade Options: We can bezel these fluted stones in Gold or Sterling Silver, either plain wire or twisted, Rope wire. While these can be left with bright frames, we suggest blued frames to create a high contrast with the precious metal bezels. These guides are durable and gorgeous – the perfect way to help your next showpiece dazzle the eye. For Gold, please inquire by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Set in our Cradle frame, these stones are wide, relative to their narrow cousins, Wire Bezel Stripping Guides-Narrow Stone.
Note: We have perfected the Hydro-Welded™ Cradle Frame as of February 2021, so now that is the only option for these wide wire bezel guides. It’s so much nicer than our first generation Cradle Frame – well worth the expense. The feet on the Cradle Frame guides are considerably more time consuming to shape, which is why these frames are a bit more expensive than standard frames.
