NICKEL SILVER BANDS These highly polished, inexpensive 18% nickel silver bands can be used as attractive and unusual winding checks or they can be mounted over glass or graphite rod ferrules to prevent splitting due to compression overload. Each ring has been buffed to a mirror finish and carefully deburred to prevent marring the rod’s surface. Available in sizes 8/64 to 31/64 in 1/64 increments.
If the fit is really snug, we suggest up-sizing and wrapping your blank in a layer of fine black silk, which both pads the blank, allows the blank to move ‘out of round’ slightly during casting, and yet remains invisible in most circumstances, especially if you add a short decorative wrap in colored silk to either side of the Band.
As with winding checks, we suggest ordering the size you think you need, and one size up. One of the Bands should fit perfectly, and the other will become a spare in your growing stash of parts.
PLEASE ORDER CAREFULLY AS THE SIZE OPTIONS VARY. ALWAYS MEASURE CANE RODS CORNER-TO-CORNER WHEN ORDERING WINDING CHECKS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE DESIGN OF THE WINDING CHECK IS CIRCULAR OR HEXAGONAL.
